Just a quick word to our loyal OKC Bites readers, I am aware that BJ’s is a chain restaurant but some friends told us we had to give it a try and we are certainly glad we did. This place has been busy ever since it opened in May, which is a good sign. So we choose to go on a Saturday afternoon to avoid the hungry masses.

My wife and I decided to eat at Sophabella’s last Friday night. I should probably admit that I was a little excited about eating here because I was doing so with malicious intent. For a couple of years now Sophabella’s has been one of my favorite places to eat in the Metro area. That is until the last 2 or 3 times I went. Don’t get me wrong the food is always exquisite, but the service was lacking. Actually “lacking” might be a bit of an understatement. The service was absolutely horrendous, nearly non-existent. Of course we had the same waiter every time . I won’t say his name but it starts with an M and rhymes with fica, but I will refer to him as “He who shall not be named” for the remainder of this review. “He who shall not be named “acted like it bothered his pretentious ass to even take our order. Palmas Pizza & Deli Market

I went to Palma’s after a long overdue first visit. I initially saw an unmarked sedan with a palm tree riding up and down my street. This is how I discovered the place. Palmas is a pizza and deli market. Their claim to fame is that they are a little restaurant with a big menu. This couldn’t be more true!!! The mission statement of Palamas is: “We are committed to deliver the highest quality foods with the freshest ingredients at an affordable price.” This is a convenient store on NW 23 and approximately Hudson on the south side of the street. I must agree with the mission statement; the food is most definitely freshly cooked and the ingredients are high quality. This particular evening, I enjoyed the Pesto Pollo sandwich. This consisted of a grilled chicken breast topped with pesto sauce (See above). The sandwich was also smothered in provolone, parmesan and red onions served on a grilled onion bun. My order came complete with hand cut fries that were done right….. Nice and brown, baby! I have attempted to order pizza from this place with numerous movie night dates; all of which declined for the Papa John’s down the road. I must admit, part of the reason I wanted to order in from this place was to see the car with the palm tree pull in my drive way. Palmas is a force to be reckoned with! The spot offers entree’s for every palette. The extensive menu consists of Appetizers, Salads, Calzones & Gyros, Feature sandwiches, deli sandwiches, famous pizza, gourmet pizza, burgers, beverages, and dessert. Needless to say, with the menu Palmas packs; This will not be my last visit. The joint delivers to core OKC also. give’em a call 405-521-0200 or 405-521-0201. I am still trying to determine the ethnic origin of the cuisine…. Maybe Italian, maybe not.
Falcone’s Pizzeria
Falcone’s Pizzeria (Bricktown)

Tonight my wife and I were in the mood for Pizza. We decided to try Falcone’s new location in Bricktown. I was somewhat hesitant because I hate places where you have to stand in line at the counter and order. I always feel pressured and get nervous that I am going to freeze up while ordering and piss everyone behind me off. I nervously found my place in line while my wife went and secured a table. I was in line for quite sometime so I had plenty of opportunities to look at what everyone else was ordering. This isn’t really a good thing when you are uber hungry. I saw someone walk away from the counter with a basket filled with Mozzarella sticks. They were huge and looked about as good as any I had ever seen. So when it came time to place my order I asked for a 14 inch cheese pizza and a basket of Mozzarella sticks. They looked at me as if they were wondering where the little league baseball team
I was feeding was. I quickly shrugged this look off because I was so excited about the Mozzarella sticks. I then asked for a couple of beers. They only had Bud, Bud Light, and Amber Bock to choose from. Plus they were only on tap and served in a little plastic cup. This is something that I would normally be discouraged about, but again I thought of those Mozzarella sticks. I went to sit down and wait for them to call my number. I also hate when you have to wait for your number to be called. I kind of figure once I sit down I shouldn’t have to get up again unless I have to piss or something. A few minutes later they called my number and I smiled bigger than Jamison after he killed that monster pig. The Mozzarella sticks were everything I thought they would be and a little more. They were like eating a dream. Right around the time we were finishing up they called our number again to get our pizza. It was a thin crust New York style cheese pizza that looked very inviting. Needless to say it tasted nearly as good as the Mozzarella Sticks. I can assure you that we left Falcone’s having eaten everything we ordered. If you can look past the standing in line and the piss poor beer selection I highly recommend checking this place out. They also have a location at 6705 N May Ave. I have also tried this location and can safely reccomend it as well.
