I should REALLY preface this post by stating that I vowed that I would go to my grave having never eaten at this place. Unfortunately we had some friends (who in my book are now ex-friends) come into town that had moved from Oklahoma during the erection of TKILTBAG and wanted to see what it was all about. I warned them that no good can come from this but they ignored me. I said we should at least put it to a vote knowing my wife would side with me. As you can probably guess the vote was 3-1 with my sellout wife casting the tie breaking (and heartbreaking) vote. Not wanting to make a big deal about having to eat there I threw a large fit and let them all know they were idiots. Having grown accustom to my fits and bitching they neither cared nor changed their minds.

Let me start this post by adressing those of you who are surprised that there is a review on okcbites about Marie Calenders.  I assure everyone that I in no way intended to end up here. Let me set the scene: Last Sunday, Father’s day, I decided I would take my parents along with my aunt and grandmother who were visiting to a little restaurant in Dibble Oklahoma called Nancy’s Crossroads Cafe. This place was highly recommended by a co-worker and I was really looking forward to enjoying the country platter. Knowing that this is a holiday and there is a good chance Nancy’s would be closed, I called the day before. I obtained directions and was assured that they would be open and probably not very busy around 3 P.M. I felt confident that this would be acceptable to accommodate my handicap aunt and ancient grandmother. Luckily I left the map at home and needed to call to make sure I was headed in the right direction. You may ask, why would it be lucky for me that the directions to the restaurant were left at home? It’s because theDAMN PLACE was closed after I called the day before to make sure that I wouldn’t run into this problem.

Last night a few friends and I were going to attend the Redhawk’s game in Bricktown. We were going to meet beforehand for dinner. Some of the people we were with chose Chelinos. I was pretty happy about this because Chelinos’ usually provides a fun environment, good service, and good food. When my wife and I arrived the rest of our party was already upstairs. As we made our way up the stairs I could feel small beads of sweat starting to form on my brow. I immediately know that this had potential to be a miserable dining experience. The closer we got to our table the more warm it got. When we got to the table I sat down in what had to be the worst chair I had ever sat in. Chelinos is either really serious about posture or needs some new chairs. I eventually went and got another chair. Finally I was able to sit down and order a Tecate. I ordered it in a schooner with lime and salt. The schooner was really cold and I thought it might be exactly what I need to cool off. To make a long story short it didn’t work. At this point I along with most of the other people at the table was sweating profusely. I even got in trouble from my wife for using her napkin to wipe my face off. I didn’t want sweat all over mine. That is gross. Read more
