I am really kicking my self in the ass for having lived within walking distance of this restaurant for over a year and never trying it. I would drive by every day and give the name a very immature chuckle, but that is as far as it went. In the last couple of months I decided I was going to try the place but my wife always said she wasn’t in the mood for Thai food. Finally I had her talked into it, but when we arrived it was closed (Make sure you note the hours above). I got a bit discouraged and waited a couple of weeks before heading up there again. A couple of weeks were way to long to wait and I can honestly say that I am glad I decided to give it another try.
On the outside the place doesn’t look like much. It is however conveniently located between a head shop, a tattoo parlor, a bicycle shop, a pet grooming place and a Christies Toy Box. Basically there is a little something for everybody nearby. When you finally make your way inside you are greeted and told to sit wherever you like. My wife and I took a seat against the wall and prepared ourselves for whatever came our way. We started off by ordering a couple of beers, which were pretty cheap and came out with an icy cold mug. We searched the menu from top to bottom, which was a rather lengthy process because there is so much to choose from. With this being our first visit we decided to play it safe and order the Pad Thai with Tofu (minus the fish sauce). We were excited about our choice and decided to indulge in a few more beers while we waited. A few minutes later our waiter brought our two heaping plates of Pad Thai that were piled high with Tofu. My wife and I looked at each other as if we had just hit the jackpot. The plates were placed in front of us and the food looked even better up close. The noodles were piping hot, the tofu was cooked to a perfect golden brown, and a fried egg was mixed in as a welcome treat. On the side of each plate was a lime cut in half that we squirted all over our noodles before digging in.
I knew that we were onto something really great even before I took my first bite, the first bite just provided confirmation. This was literally one of the greatest things I have eaten in a long time. I cleaned up everything on my plate and spent the next few minutes praying that my wife wouldn’t eat all of hers. It turns out my prayers were answered and I had no trouble finishing hers off as well. Our waiter came out and asked us if we wanted any ice cream for dessert. Having stuffed myself wit 3 beers and a plate and a half of Pad Thai my natural answer was “Hell Yeah”. He named off all the types they had and said they were all made there in the restaurant. I decided to go with the Peach while my wife ordered some type of Amaretto Chocolate Almond. They were both very good and were definitely what I needed after 3 beers and a trough of noodles. The last time we ate there we decided to get a plate of Pad Thai and a plate of Spicy Lemon Grass with Tofu. This wasn’t quite as good as the Pad Thai, but it still falls in the freaking delicious category.
Needless to say we REALLY enjoyed this place and have eaten there 3 times in the last week. I was out of town most of that time or it probably would have been more. So do your self a huge favor and head over to North West Oklahoma City and give Bangkok a try. Hell you can get a bong, crotch less panties, a bicycle, a tattoo, your dog cleaned, and a plate of Pad Thai all in one trip. Tell them Okcbites.com sent you.

I am going to make it a point to try this place out. I used to like Sala Thai on 23rd, OKC’s historic first Thai place. However the last time I was there It wasn’t so hot. Most of the places I know of are in norman and are pretty good at that. I wold love to find a place that could beat them.
I kept my word and I made it a point to give this place a fightin’ chimi’s chance. The place is great and I recomend it to anyone who likes good Thai. By the way the noodles I had last night were so hot I lost my voice for the remainder of the night, if you’re in to that sort of thing. Poloar bear. why don’t you give Nic’s a try?
Bangkok is the best! I only wish they were closer to downtown…
I used to go to Bangkok (hee, hee, hee) quite often, but I haven’t been there in a while. I can say that I’ve never had a bad meal there. I’ve had some ridiculously spicy food, but that’s just how I roll.
Cheap booze, hot Thai food, and homemade ice cream… It just doesn’t get any better than that.
